Confidentiality and Data Protection

The funding supporting our program requires that basic information about participating facilities is posted online for transparency and awareness. Publicly available information may include:

*Mitigation actions coordinated by the Clean Classroom for Carolina Kids™ program will automatically be posted online. Facilities can also choose to provide publicly available information on additional solutions they implemented.

**NC DHHS already requires schools make asbestos management plans publicly available upon request.

Select data from facilities’ online enrollment surveys will be kept confidential, including information related to student demographics.

A key part of the Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids™ program is taking action to eliminate hazards. Mitigation actions that were coordinated by the Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids™ program for lead in water are automatically posted online. Facilities can also provide information within the portal on any hazard mitigation solutions they have implemented for lead in water, lead-based paint hazards, or asbestos hazards, which makes this information publicly available on our program website. This allows staff, students, families, and other stakeholders to easily view the actions your facility has taken to address potential health hazards.

Our program takes data protection very seriously. The online portal system implements industry-standard cybersecurity protocols to protect participant privacy, including encryption, secure data transmission, authentication, authorization, cross-site scripting (XSS) prevention, SQL database integration, script injection prevention, and user input validation. For further information, please see our Privacy Policy.
